Le score d'une implantation et le score de la zone
Two sites that comply with the 300-metre rule are not equal. To tell them apart, MaPharmacieChainage gives every qualifying cell a composite score out of 100 — and every zone a derived score. Here is exactly how they are computed.
The four components of a site's score
A site's score combines four factors, weighted as follows:
- Population served within 500 m — 40 %. The dominant factor: the more residents within walking distance, the more potential customers the pharmacy has.
- Distance to the nearest pharmacy — 25 %. The farther the competition, the better. The advantage is capped at 1,000 m: beyond that, extra distance earns no more points.
- Pharmacies within 1 km — 20 %. An inverted component: the fewer competing pharmacies around, the higher the mark.
- Distance to the nearest road — 15 %. Also inverted: a site visible and accessible from a busy road is favored.
Per-zone normalization
Each component is first normalized from 0 to 1 across all qualifying cells of the zone, then weighted as above. An important consequence: the score is relative to the analyzed zone. An 85 in Ouezzane does not mean the same as an 85 in Casablanca — it means the site is among the very best of that zone.
The zone score
The zone score, shown on the summary page and in “Analyzed Zones”, is simply that of its best site: it sums up the maximum opportunity the zone offers today. A zone with no qualifying cell has no score — the most unfavorable signal possible.
How the ranking is built
The best-sites ranking is greedy and spatial: the highest-scoring cell is kept, every candidate within 300 metres of it is dropped, then the best survivor follows, and so on — so suggestions cover distinct neighborhoods instead of piling onto the same crossroads. The list never exceeds 20 sites and stops as soon as a candidate falls below 40 % of the #1 score (or below 10 points): a short, solid ranking beats a long, diluted one.
What the score says — and what it doesn't
The score ranks sites that are already compliant and buildable: it is a prioritization tool, not a promise of success. Rent, real visibility, parking, foot traffic, upcoming urban projects — none of these decisive factors is measurable from our data. Use the score to shortlist, then validate in the field.
The weights (40/25/20/15) are indicative business parameters, chosen to reflect the relative importance of the factors; they may evolve with user feedback.
